Internet Success Tips for Newbies
Internet success for majority of newbies is largely elusive for obvious reasons. As such, I have carefully discussed the areas would-be entrepreneurs should concentrate their time, energy and money on in order to guarantee their desired success in record time.
Set Goals
Most newbies jump into the internet business with both feet without taking into consideration their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT). Simply because they have been told through various media that there is money to be made on the internet, they deluge themselves with dreams and high hopes. True, there are gobs of money online to be made. Like every other good things of life you have to "work it" to "have it."
While you are just starting out, it is advisable to critically examine yourself in terms of:
1. Identify what you are good at. Concentrate on a niche (or your passion if you like) when starting out. Only diversify when you have gotten hang of the internet business.
2. Sharpen your marketing prowess. It is a universal skill every internet entrepreneur should hone from the beginning. If you cannot market your product or service to your prospects then you may not be able to sell online.
3. Your ability and willingness to learn new things. The internet is so dynamic to the extent that what works yesterday may not work tomorrow. Which means you must be able to use the benefit of hindsight and foresight to stay ahead of the competition. Let me remind you that if you are not creative, the internet success you envisage will be far from you. Why? Because only creative ideas set apart internet successes from internet failures.
In every department of your internet business you must set goals and work your goals. Draw up a business plan for this. That is your financial requirement for a start, the time needed to achieve the desired internet success, books you need to read (paid and free) to learn what it takes to succeed online, etc should be included in your business blueprint.
Remember, I always tell my students that "There is no goal without a goalpost". Your goals will determine how hard and how smart you should work to achieve the internet success you conscientiously desire.
Build Virtues of Trust and Credibility
To attract fame and fortune online, you must have earned the cardinal virtues of trust and credibility. Frankly speaking, to achieve internet success that reverberates; you must earn trust and credibility from prospects, customers, partners and visitors alike over time. Trust and credibility will never be earned overnight. And the only way to demonstrate this is by doing all things consistently right and well.
For instance, your expertise should not be in doubt in your niche. Second, your promotion and marketing strategies should not be solely tainted with how to make the sales. There should be a genuine desire on your part to help your visitors before making the sale. Though your goal is to make a sale ultimately, it should not be so glaring. Help your visitors first; then sell to them later. I know it could be daunting if you are not making the sale right off the bat. Be aware you are actually building a business not just building a sale.
My personal mantra for internet success is this: wield your expertise, show that you can be trusted and credible and let your prospects ask for the sale.
