Every TV will be connected to the net due to the online TV revolution
By Randy vertical
Have you noticed recently that nearly all televisions and set-top devices are using to the web. The sectors of internet and television are converging and will soon merge into one. At present the cable and satellite companies are resisting their high paying viewers to start seeing content freely from the web. But its something that is too late to stop.
internet connections to the web is the content companies most profitable business. Their technology is also more advanced than the phone and mobile companies.
In other countries like the far east. Internet speeds are much higher than in the USA. Here companies are worried about giving us the maximum speeds because then internet tv will be even more popular. Currently most subscribers view a tiny fraction of the available channels they are paying for.
All of us want to choose which channels we pay for, and a bigger variety as can be seen with online tv would be welcome too. With the new internet TV websites like worldtvpc, Hulu and YouTube the variety and choice is much bigger than on traditional tv. And amazingly most streams are free of charge. The video on Demand content is low priced from $1 for each show. Therefore if you watch tv online, your only paying for what you want to watch or get it for free.
So are the cable companies welcoming this new technology with open arms? Are they hell. They are trying many underhand tactics to keep you on the cable subscription. Tactics include slowing internet TVs advance into the living room by rolling out DOCSIS 3 as slowly as possible and then charging way over the top for its services. Another tactic is to cap the amount of data that can be downloaded, or even whack a massive charge per megabyte downloaded.
However this is having little effect on internet televisions takeover. The market is being inundated with new innovative start up companies are bringing out technology making watching internet TV easier.
The big manufacturers including Panasonic, Samsung and Sony are now including as standard internet connections built in to the hardware. Making connection to all of the web based content a breeze.
You can even watch online tv using a variety of consoles including the Xbox 360 which gives access to movie and tv show rentals from Netflix to its online community
And at the same time, manufacturers like Roku, Apple, TiVo plus Vudu all want to be the dominant internet TV set top box.
Of course, all these technologies will eventually end up as part of a standard television set. And no matter what the cable companies try to do to scuttle their plans. Watching TV using the Internet will be a reality for most of the worlds population sooner rather than later.
