How You Make A Successful Career Transition

By Christopher Poff

Wouldn't it be great to click your fingers to make a successful career transition?

You are not alone. This is a historic time in US history, when millions are making, (or having the decision made for them!), career changes. The key is to make a successful career transition, so here are some ideas.

Look at making a successful career transition from different perspectives. Now more than ever you need to have a fresh perspective about business and your career. The rules have changed and the power brokers at the top are taking no prisoners. Don't panic. Look for new opportunities. They are out there. One example is the explosion of E commerce.

Stay calm. In these times a calm professional is a breath of fresh air. Even though the economy sucks, there are still many individuals making a successful career transition.

Network, Network, Network, Network, Network. Oh and did I say to be sure and network? Now is the time to make your list of friends, family, and anyone else that could connect you with a successful career change. Don't like to network? Don't....see where it gets you. Some of the greatest career transitions that I have made were do to networking.

Do your homework. Get on the internet and see what's going on. Are there some new business opportunities that you keep stumbling upon? Keep an open mind and surf! You never know when an opportunity will pop up that doesn't look like an opportunity. I have enjoyed at least one successful career transition that came to me in disguise.

Rethink and reassess your strengths, weak areas, and passions. After you do this formulate a plan of action for your successful career transition. Do you need extra education or training? Do you need to totally revamp your career focus? Can you turn a hobby or passion into a successful career transition?

Adopt a positive mental attitude and advance confidently toward your goal of making a successful career transtion. Remember that you don't have to be twice as good as everyone else, just 10% better. That 10% will make you stand out. Remember to stay in the battle. If you refuse to give up you will succeed.
